SIM contracts with no credit check are pretty straight forward - You apply, you get your SIM and you start using it, all without ever taking a credit check.
Why no credit check SIM contracts exist is a little more complicated since for years, most people have accepted that applying for a SIM means a credit check. the difference here is that the network isn't taking a risk - which is why they would normally check a customers credit.
Because a no credit check SIM is usually a 1-month rolling deal the customer makes a payment and then can use the SIM. The network is paid up-front so they're not at risk of losing money
Removing the credit check from applying for a SIM deal immediately makes them more appealing to customers with bad credit.Applying for credit multiple times can have a negative effect on your credit score so if it's already low, you're not taking a risk by having your credit checked.
While most SIM only contracts do require customers to pass a credit check there are some networks who do not. Voxi, Smarty and giffgaff all offer customers a 1 month/30 day SIM that the customer only pays for on a rolling contract. If the customer wants to stop using the SIM, they can at any point.
No credit Check SIMs are great if you want the flexibility to change you allowance at any time or switch to a different network whenever you like - You can reuse your number anywhere.
No credit check SIM deals are perfectly designed for customers with bad credit. They're usually very affordable and give the customer the flexibility of cancelling if they think it's not in their budget or want to switch to a more-affordable plan. Despite almost all SIM contracts being good for bad credit, SIM only deals can sometimes be difficult to get since networks are providing you with a services that costs them money.
While no credit check SIMs are a great option, even standard 1-month SIM contracts from networks like Three or Vodafone will usually have lower credit requirements and have good cost-savings and perks to joinings their networks.
If you think your credit is good enough to get a standard 12 month contract then there are still good options that will save you money in the long run and provide you with a relationship and reputation with a network meaning you could at some point transition to a mobile contract. We recommend Three Mobile as a great network for SIM contracts if you have poor credit. They have affordable plans from 500MB to Unlimited data (their 100GB SIM is our favourite and is great value).
This is mostly overlooked by customers but most UK networks DO credit check even for a 1 month or 30 day SIM.
Customers should remember that although there is a credit check, the ones done for 1 month SIMs are usually a lot less strict than for 12 month contracts.
So if you like a certain network and have found a great 1 month plan you should pass the credit check no problem.
